Eric Lebeau
Director, Dime Store Crew (Montreal, QC)
What were some of
the difficulties of the Shoot to Thrill weekend?
Loading the
super16mm for the first time was difficult. It was completely stressing playing
with an unknown toy but awesomely fun at the same time. J’en est eu mal à mon
coeur d’animal.
What were some of
the highlights?
They were: Gerry
Boulet, Bob LaSalle’s luxury Touring van, “Jazz” Adam Green’s dog, and Hugo
Balek wasting money on whatever.
What sort of
schedule did you keep?
We slept, smoked,
drove, listened to Gerry Boulet shooting, skated, drove, listened to Gerry
Boulet shooting, smoked, shot, skated, ate, shot, skated, drank, smoked, and
slept.
What was the team’s
overall strategy and goals?
Our main goal or
strategy was to have as much fun possible—mission accomplished, General.
From your team’s
perspective, what is Shoot to Thrill all about? And, how did you
incorporate that into your idea for what you intended to show?
It’s cool
experiences among skaters from different cities in our country. We’re just
being true to our self and our Montreal-flavour smoked meat.
Whose personality
was the strongest or seemed to stand out the most?
It was more like
“personality teamwork”. If I had to choose one, I’ll go with Gerry Boulet.
Why him?
He was the spirit of our trip to thrill them all. “Tu me fais mal à mon
cœur d’animal”—we listened to that song over and over in Bob’s van.
If you could have
any other Canadian skater on your team, who would it be and why?
“Chuck” Charles
Rivard; because he’s a kinder surprise.
What kind of
locations were you looking for and why?
We skated spots
that were pretty under-exposed to the rest of people in Canada. No peace park, no Big O—we just skated neighborhoods in the Montreal island like St-Henri,
Outremont, Ville Mont-Royal, and Centre-Sud.
What’s the hardest
thing about taking part in Shoot to Thrill?
For me, it was all
about super16. It was my first time making love to her. I got used to it and I
damn like it.
Individually and in
a few words, how would you characterize yourself and each member on your team?
I was a spirit
catcher and I got younger. Bob LaSalle is my Gerry Boulet of all time. Adam
Green is a coffee and cig alley. Jazz is now my dogg. Hugo Balek is a Croatian
Shmalek of a doob dude! Antoine Asselin is perfectionist assassin.
