Director, The Greezy Heathens (Ottawa, ON)

What were some of the highlights?

On the 2nd night of shooting, the rain quit for a few hours around 2AM. We ventured out into the woods for our campfire scene. It was perfect because we were able to have a few drinks and discuss our plans for the rest of the STT weekend over a nice warm fire. Other then that, just spending time with the lads because it’s not very often the five of us are able to get together.

What sort of schedule did you keep?

Time management for our group was all over the map. We were averaging about three hours of sleep per night, so the rest of the time was spent bouncing around from spot to spot filming. We had too many ideas and not enough time. I am pretty sure it is safe to say that our team saying was: “let’s just get on with it”.

What was the team’s overall strategy and goals?

No real strategies; we just saw it as a challenge for ourselves. Who wouldn't jump at an opportunity like this?

Whose performance stood out the most so far?

That is a tough one, given the pressures of what everyone went through over the past weekend; they all put it out in there in terms of performance. Everyone worked really hard.

How much did alcohol play a part in your weekend?

It made a couple of appearances behind the scenes, but you will understand why once you see the flick. Overall, it was quite a sober experience, that being a good thing.

Were there times when you felt that you might not come out of this with a working product?

This was the first time shooting with a super 16mm camera, so I am going to have to get back to you once we get our film back. I am dead serious about that.

Did any guest skaters make it out?

Paul Flintoff is in some of the story board, but not skating. For those of you who do not know Paul, he is a skate veteran in these parts and I am pretty sure that he has tattooed every skater in Ontario.

Whose personality was the strongest or seemed to stand out the most?

Everyone's personalities were distorted due to the overwhelming amounts of Red Bull consumption. The guys didn't know if they were coming or going.

What's the hardest thing about taking part in Shoot to Thrill?

The 72 hours that we are given is such a short period of time. Technically, you can get a lot done but to do so you have to scratch sleeping off of your “to do list”. It mentally and physically drains you!
